Tiny park with a great view

If you find yourself at Motomachi-Chuukagai station, and you don't feel like strolling down Motomachi for shopping or hitting up Chinatown, you can always check out America Yama Park. It's a small greenery oasis in the city that's worth checking out. You can get there by taking exit 6 straight from the subway station and heading up the escalator (or elevator). During the holidays, they have lights set up so you can get your own mini illumination. Generally, it's not too crowded either. During the weekdays, you can see the children of the preschool playing games up there. On the weekends, it serves as a date spot for the young and old. If you're an aspiring botanist, there are also plaques which detail the different types of trees and flowers that are planted in the park. It has the information in both English and Japanese, so you could practice some of your translations if you're feeling particularly ambitious. It's a tiny park so it gets old fast; there's not much to see. However, it's nice to just sit and relax in the sun for a few minutes on the benches. It's on the bluff, so you can get a good view of the city and the bay from there. Plus, it's free, so there's no excuse not to visit if you're in the area.
