Film Cameras in Tokyo

So I'm looking for a SLR film camera (maybe Minolta or Nikon). I've seen tons on Amazon but I prefer seeing the actual product first before buying it. Also, I want to look for better deals. For sure there are tons in Akihabara but I don't know where to start looking in there. And I wanna know if there are areas I can check other than Aki. Thank you. :D

Do you want used or new? Akihabara Nisshin Camera is supposed to have both: https://www.nisshin-camera.com/page/1 If you are looking for used / second hand this article will help: http://photojpn.org/news/2016/02/used-camera-shops-in-tokyo/

Don't go to Akihabara... Shinjuku is known as the camera capital of Japan (and probably the world to be honest) for the sheer amount of camera shops in the area. Luckily, most of them are concentrated within 1-2 blocks of Shinjuku Station West Exit. To start you off, some of the best shops for secondhand include: Kitamura Camera*, Lemon-sha*, MAP, Alps Do, and Camera Box. I've put an asterisk next to the shops which are chains, meaning they have locations in other parts of Japan/Tokyo. So, you can search it on the map and see if there's a location closer to you... Obviously, they're going to all stock different stuff so it would be worth paying a visit to each to see what they have! You can also check out Nakano, which is a short train ride away from Shinjuku on the Chuo line. Fujiya Camera has a great selection of used stuff! Good luck with your camera hunting! SLRs are super easy to find and you'll be able to pick one up anywhere.

My friend who was into film cameras while he was in Japan started by joining facebook groups for people into it, and there were often people selling their older/extra cameras. So that might be a chance to meet up, see the thing before buying it.

My husband is into film photography and he told me Lucky Camera shop in Shinjuku is a great place to go for film cameras. Also we just found one in a recycle shop that was in fantastic shape for only 1000¥ yen

Just to add a bit to hellonihon's solid recommendations, oftentimes those shops that are good for film cameras will list their stuff on camerafan.jp It can be a good way to browse before you go to any of the shops and find potentially smaller lesser known ones too. If you do find something on that site though, it's best to call up the shop, make sure they have it, and see if they'll hold it for you.

Clothes shops for the "not too young but not too old" crowd?

I'm pushing my mid 30's now, and I want to know about good places to find clothes here that fit that age bracket. I feel like there's a lot of stuff here suited to the 20-something crowd and a lot suited to people well older than me - but I seem to be missing the bracket that suits my age group! Any suggestions/recommendations for women's clothes stores that aren't going to make me look like a granny, but aren't going to make me look like a teenager?! Added point: I'm a mom of two kids so I need practicality, too!

Best cell phone options?

I am about to get a newer cell phone and sign up for a plan in Japan. This is actually my first time getting one in Japan. I was wondering what options are the best. I of course have heard of Softbank, AU, and Docomo, but I wanted to know what everyone recommends...

Easter events

I know it is not very common to celebrate easter in Japan, but since more and more easter goods and sweets are in the stores, I thought there might also be some events. Does anybody know of some easter events, preferable in the Kanto area?

What's your favorite Tokyo hanami spot?

I feel like I've hit up all the "standard" hanami spots: Yoyogi, Asukayama, Ueno, Yanaka... What's your favorite spot (preferably not on that list) and why?
